Laura Pausini, one of the most famous Italian artists in the world, confirms her international stature by participating in the Oscars 2021, the most anticipated film event ever that was held last night at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. The artist, although unable to bring home the coveted prize, was among the undisputed protagonists of the ceremony both for the performance and for the look.

Nominated for best original song with “Io Sì (Seen)” – written by Laura Pausini and Niccolò Agliardi and soundtrack of the film “Life in front of you” by Edoardo Ponti with Sophia Loren – Laura Pausini performed in a preshow, recorded a few days earlier for the opening of the Oscars ceremony, in which she sings her song “Io sì (Seen)” from the terrace of the Academy Museum of Motion Picture accompanied on the piano by Dianne Warren. For the occasion, she wore a golden tuxido that Pierpaolo Piccioli, Maison Valentino, designed for her.
“My songs start from instinctive lyrics that talk about my life. Here I respected the sense of the film. For me it was important to find a personal affinity with those themes, I recognize myself 100% “said Laura Pausini in an interview with Corriere della Sera talking about the foresight in finding the words for the song, wanting to reflect as much as possible the welcoming message of the film. After all, the song has already set a record: it is the first entirely Italian song to have won the Golden Globe victory.

At the Academy ceremony, Laura Pausini made a splash with a long black Valentino dress and precious Bulgari jewels. The queen of contemporary Italian song confessed that she had a secret pocket sewn where she had stowed her thank you note and a magic wand with glitter, her lucky charm since she won the Grammys in 2006.
“[…] Having sung IO SI on the Academy stage is a dream that I could never have hoped to come true even more in such a historic edition. […] I am going back to Italy happy to have lived an unrepeatable experience born for an important message that I fully share and for the great passion that after twenty-eight years I still have for music which is not just my job, but my life ” Pausini wrote in a post on Instagram.

The piece by Lura Pausini may not have won the Oscar, but is about to become a worldwide success. “Io Sì (Seen)” has already been recorded in the English version, curated by the American composer Diane Warren, French, Spanish and Portuguese and was released on digital platforms on 23 October 2020. In February this year, an in-language version was also released. partly in Italian and partly in English.
