The third online meeting between the Italian Ambassador in Tokyo Giorgio Starace and his compatriots in Japan took place today. Today’s appointment was dedicated to the themes of research and scientific diplomacy. It was attended by the Consul General in Osaka Luigi Diodati, the Scientific Attaché of the Embassy Enrico Traversa, the Director of the Italian Cultural Institute Paolo Calvetti and qualified representatives of the world of Italian innovation and the Association of Italian Researchers in Japan. .

“Science, technology and innovation are at the heart of the relaunch of the Italian System in Japan for the post-emergency Corona Virus,” explained Ambassador Starace. “We will give continuity to initiatives such as Italy Innovation Day which over the years has supported, thanks to the Embassy, ICE and Invitalia, over 50 Italian start-ups and scale-ups interested in accessing the Japanese market.

We are also working with the Farnesina and the Japanese counterparts – continued Starace – to create the first Scientific-Technological Forum between Italy and Japan, research superpowers that can and must bring together researchers, institutions and companies in a new and inclusive dialogue platform that can face the challenges of today (above all the fight against the Corona Virus) and those of the future: renewable energy, sustainable exploration of space, technological contribution to the ‘aging society,’ humanoid robotics and artificial intelligence ”.
