On September 27-30, the 2022 edition of the Italy-Tanzania Business and Investment Forum took place in Zanzibar and Dar es Salaam.

The Italy-Tanzania Business and Investment Forum was organized by the Embassy of Italy in Dar es Salaam, together with the Italian Trade Agency, Tanzania Investment Center, and Zanzibar Investment Promotion Authority, and with the support of the Foreign Ministries of the two countries.
About 800 companies, including a hundred Italian or Italian-owned businesses, attended the event, which provided an opportunity to explore collaborations and economic opportunities in agribusiness, machinery, infrastructure, technology exchange, and the blue economy.
Guests of honor included the First Vice President of Zanzibar, Othman Masoud Othman, and the Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry, Ashatu K. Kijaji. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Liberata Mulamula, delivered the closing remarks.

Several B2B and B2C sessions were held between Sept. 28 and 29 to explore possible collaborations and business opportunities for companies from the two countries. Italian companies Leonardo, Messina Lines, Neos, CNH, Planet Smart City, Gallesio constructions, Minnucci Group, Almawave, General Chimica, Toscana Macchinari Calzaturieri (Tmc), as well as FederUnacoma, the National Federation of Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers, all attended the event.
As the Italian press agency ANSA reported, the Tuscan footwear manufacturer Tmc presented its successful experience in Tanzania, which led to the creation of a footwear production district. General Chimica also presented to the public its insecticides factory, soon to be opened in the country, thanks to Italian Development Cooperation funds.
During the Forum, financial operators SACE, SIMEST, and African Development Bank presented their instruments aimed at facilitating economic collaborations between Italian and Tanzanian companies.

The Ambassador of Italy, Marco Lombardi, announced that in 2023 Tanzania will be part of the “Luca Attanasio Initiative.” Thanks to the initiative, organized and coordinated by the Italian Foreign Ministry, in collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency, several Italian businesses will visit Tanzania and explore possible business partnerships.
Foreign Minister Liberata Mulamula, when thanking Italy for including her country, also dedicated some words to the memory of Italian Ambassador Luca Attanasio, who was tragically killed last year in Congo.
The next edition of the Italy-Tanzania Business and Investment Forum will be held in Milan in 2023.
