Israel and the Italian region of Piedmont signed an agreement to strengthen cooperation on technology and innovation. The agreement was signed in Jerusalem by Ceipiemonte and Margalit Startup City Jerusalem.
Ceipiemonte is an in-house company of the Piedmont Region, also participated by several Chambers of Commerce and Universities. The company is responsible for facilitating the internationalization process of local businesses and attracting foreign investors to Piedmont.
Margalit Startup City is a model for socio-economic development based on the establishment of innovation centers that connect technological-business entrepreneurship with social and cultural entrepreneurship. Each innovation center creates a thematic ecosystem around it, including investment funds and startups, leading universities, research institutes, multinational companies, and local institutions.
Ceipiemonte President Dario Peirone and Erel Margalit, founder of Margalit Startup City, signed the agreement. The Piedmont Region’s Councillor for Internationalization, Fabrizio Ricca, and the Mayor of Jerusalem, Moshe Leon, also attended the signing ceremony.
Piedmont will thus have in Jerusalem a space available to local institutions and business delegations that will participate in missions to Israel. The agreement also creates a privileged channel to facilitate investments of Israeli companies in Piedmont.
“Our cooperation with Israel has reached a decisive turning point,” Councilor Ricca said. “Piedmontese companies will have a stable garrison that can support and help them, favoring the emergence of business agreements with the companies of a country which is at the forefront of many productive sectors. Many sectors of excellence will benefit from stronger relations with Israel. I am thinking about the aerospace, automotive, and digital security sectors, to name a few.“
“Our mission has always been to build bridges between communities, cities, regions, and today’s agreement is a milestone on that journey,” Margalit Startup City founder Startup City founder Erel Margalit. “Piedmont is a natural partner for Israel.“
“This agreement is very important for our territory and our businesses. Israel is a strategic partner. In 2018 we started a cooperation that led us to the signing of this agreement,” Ceipiemonte President Dario Peirone added. “Our goal is to establish a strong presence in Jerusalem to encourage economic cooperation and promote our territory, which offers a lot of opportunities in terms of investment, as well as a high quality of life.”
The next step will take place in mid-September when a business mission of Piedmontese entrepreneurs in the aerospace sector will attend B2B meetings with Israeli counterparts.
