A workshop dedicated to an agricultural mechanization program financed by the Italian Cooperation, with an aid credit of 10 million euros, took place in Fayoum in Egypt. The program was created by the International Center for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies of Bari (Ciheam), in collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture.
The initiative was organized following the arrival in Egypt of the first batch of agricultural machinery from Italy envisaged by the program which aims to increase agricultural productivity by promoting mechanization. This cooperation project is addressed to 14 agricultural mechanization centers of the Ministry of Agriculture in the governorates of Minya and Fayoum and will allow these centers to provide services to approximately 250 agricultural enterprises and 11 agricultural cooperatives involving approximately 3,500 small businesses and direct farmers.
