In occasion of this year’s edition of Gulfood, the global fair of the Food and Beverage (F&B) industry that will be held in Dubai on February 21-25, ITA-Italian Trade Agency in Dubai launched, in collaboration with TUTTOFOOD Milan fair and Emirates Culinary Guild, a culinary contest centered on the symbol par excellence of Italian cuisine: pasta.
During the contest, the chefs of local Italian restaurants will challenge each other in the preparation of the recipes that best represent Italian heritage and are at the same time most enjoyed by international customers. The event will therefore be an opportunity to celebrate how food connects people and builds bridges between different cultures.
During the first phase of the contest, the participants will make a video on the preparation of their chosen recipe. The videos will be then published of the Emirates Culinary Guild’s YouTube channel and will receive the votes of the public and the members of the Guild.
The two selected finalists will compete against each other on February 23 at the ITAlian Food Lab, the event area equipped with a kitchen that the Italian Trade Agency set up at the Gulfood exhibition facility. A special jury composed, among the others, by Italian Ambassador to the UAE Nicola Lener and some starred international chefs will choose the winner, who will get a sponsored trip to next edition of TUTTOFOOD fair that will be held in Milan in October.
Gulfood is the biggest fair of the Gulf area and its 2021 edition will be the first major in-person trade event since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic: a great opportunity for Italian companies, that will be able to explore the regional market and the city that next fall will host the long-awaited Expo 2020. Besides the pasta culinary contest, the Italian Trade Agency is organizing several events and activities aimed at promoting Italian agricultural and food products. These events will allow the companies attending Gulfood to introduce themselves to a public of importers, distributors, and representatives of regional retail chains.
Ambassador Lener commented “we are proud to join forces in promoting the Italian culture and gastronomic heritage. By connecting our country’s history and know-how with present and future common challenges, our promotional effort is aimed at highlighting how much our creativity in mixing tradition and innovation in food can help improve not only our quality of life, but also our health and the planet.”
