With an lively three-day show dedicated to Italian design, the Milano Design Film Festival arrived last December in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan, China.

The exhibition, unique in Italy, promotes the knowledge of design and architecture through cinema, using it as a tool of communication and cultural dissemination.

The event, which takes place every year in October under the patronage of the Italian Ministry of Culture (MiBAC), the City of Milan and the Order of Architects of Milan, attracts an increasingly wide and varied audience: from professionals and enthusiasts of the sector, to the students and civil society. The activities of MDFF, in addition to the event in Italy, continues throughout the year with various projects around the world.

In China, the inauguration ceremony was hosted in the renowned Zhongxin library with the participation of the Vice Consul of Italy in Chongqing, Adriana Lori.

The event was also attended by the Deputy Director of the Management Committee of Tianfu New Area, Diao Yi, the Deputy Director General of the Foreign Affairs Office of the City of Chengdu, Huang Tao and the Director of the International Bureau of Cooperation of Tianfu New Area, Hua Minna.

During the opening day, a round table was also organized to exchange ideas on creativity, innovation and sustainability in urban design.

The panel discussion was attended by the Italian designer and architect, Marco De Battista, and experienced Chinese designers and architects who contributed to the urban planning activities of the City of Chengdu.

The stopover in Chengdu was organized by the Foreign Affairs Office of the City of Chengdu in collaboration with the Consulate General of Italy in Chongqing and with the Management Committee of Tianfu New Area, to conclude the cultural events of “Chengdu-Europe Culture Season 2021“, in which Italy participated as Guest Country of Honor, with a rich cultural schedule that fits in the context of the “Road to 2022”, scheduled for the Year of Culture and Tourism Italy – China.
